If you need to remove excess paper, doing so in smaller sections can be easier than trying to cut it out in one piece. Cut on the dotted lines of the template to create your snowflake pattern. Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally to make a large triangle. Once my kids began cutting, I tried to teach them too, but they had the same problem I did.

Trim the protruding parts so they won’t bother you while cutting. Just make sure that the printed lines stay on the outside as you fold. Don’t fold towards the lines, otherwise you won’t be able to see them when it comes time to cut out the pattern. You can use any scissors as long as they’re strong and fairly sharp.
